Sparsh
A downloadable tool
SPARSH: ONE ENGINE. FIVE DOORS.
Sparsh turns the whole phone screen into one Morse button. Tap is a dot.
Hold is a dash. Nothing to find, nothing to see, nothing to hear.
It is built for deaf-blind, deaf, blind and older people, and for the
teachers and NGOs who support them.
THE FIVE DOORS (plus Touch input)
- Read: point the camera at printed text. On-device text recognition
reads it, and you feel it as Morse vibration, line by line.
- Learn: teach yourself Morse by touch, level by level.
- Talk: speech to text and back. A hearing person's words appear as text;
your typed reply is spoken aloud. No shared sign language needed.
- Walk (experimental): a short, long or rapid buzz warns of a close
obstacle. It does NOT replace a cane or a guide.
- Seekh: point at anything and get a short story about it, spoken or felt.
- Touch: type Morse anywhere on the screen, speak it, feel the reply.
WHAT YOU NEED
- An Android phone with camera, microphone and vibration.
- Seekh and AI shortening in Read need a free Google Gemini API key
(aistudio.google.com/apikey). Everything else works without it.
The key stays on your phone.
INSTALL
1. Download the APK on your Android phone.
2. Open it and allow "install from this source" when asked.
3. Open Sparsh and allow camera and microphone.
IMPORTANT, PLEASE READ
- This is a v1.0 DEBUG build and a prototype, not a Play Store release.
- Walk mode only estimates object size. It cannot see potholes, kerbs,
steps or glass. Use only for supervised testing.
- Some assistant features (Always ready, volume-key input, message
replies for WhatsApp/Telegram/SMS) are early, experimental and not
field-tested. They need Accessibility or Notification access, which you
switch on yourself.
- Not yet built: desktop Morse mouse, button-phone support, road-crossing
help.
